As part of its goal to tell the story of campus sustainability, Sustainable Carolina released a report that highlights results and progress for the year of 2021. The report aims to provide highlights of sustainability endeavors within operations, student organizations, research, academics, and community engagement at UNC-Chapel Hill.

This report includes metrics that highlight reductions in greenhouse gases and progress within our water and waste goals, visualizing updated data since the start of the pandemic.

The dynamic environment of a university such as UNC-Chapel Hill spurs a constantly developing news cycle, making it difficult to keep stories in the spotlight at all times. By showcasing an anthology of the impactful sustainability outcomes made possible through collaboration from all parts of the Carolina Community, we aim to increase visibility and bring sustainability to the center of more conversations. With sustainability activities happening all across campus, “It is really helpful to see so many of these programs identified in one place” said Steve Wall, Outreach Director of the NC Policy Collaboratory.

Sustainable Carolina will continue to build partnerships across functional, research, and academic realms on campus as it elevates the successes and journeys that move UNC-Chapel Hill towards sustainability every day.

The report is available for reading and download on the “Plans and Progress” page of the Sustainable Carolina website. Read the 2021 Sustainability Report here.
