Abigail Brewer

Biography

Abigail Brewer is Sustainable Carolina’s communications and engagement specialist. In this role, she guides communication efforts around the university’s sustainability metrics and progress. She enjoys breaking down what these metrics mean and talking about the group’s accomplishments on Sustainable Carolina’s website and social media accounts.

On the engagement side of the role, Abigail fosters relationships with departments across campus as well as environmentally focused student organizations. She works with the Sustainable Carolina team to organize events throughout the academic year.

A double Tar Heel, Abigail became passionate about science communication while studying biology and journalism as an undergraduate student. After spending a few years at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, she returned to Chapel Hill to study strategic communication at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media. For her master’s thesis, she worked with the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership to create a social marketing campaign around the significance of seagrass in estuarine systems.
