Mark your calendars! Orange County will host its 2nd annual Creek Week dedicated to celebrating and learning about our waterways.

Show your love for Orange County’s streams, lakes, and rivers during Orange County Creek Week, set for March 17-26, 2023. The annual event is part of the Clean Water and Education Partnership’s (CWEP) third annual Regional Creek Week. This year’s theme is “Water Connects Us.” The initiative will engage the public on the importance of clean and healthy waterways.

“We had an absolute blast last year at the inaugural Orange County Creek Week,” said Sammy Bauer, community education coordinator with Town of Chapel Hill Division of Stormwater Management. “We’ve spent several months collaborating with our partners planning the best way to celebrate our waterways and promote clean, healthy creeks – and we expect this year’s Creek Week to be even better!”

Creek Week celebrates the streams, lakes, and rivers that connect our human and non-human communities. It’s a weeklong series of activities like a litter cleanup challenge, paddling trips, art workshops, invasive plant removal, green infrastructure scavenger hunts, and more spanning across the county!
